The rarest and most important stamp of the Chinese Red Posts is going on sale in Hong Kong on November 2. The estimated value of the stamp is approximately HK$2,800,000-3,200,000. One of my friends in California (U.S.A.), Dr. Li, owns the stamp. She inherited this rare stamp from her father, Dr. Li Guo Fang, who used to be a well known doctor in my hometown, Fuzhou City, Fujian

The rare stamp was sold at HK$2,800,000 today. The following is the report about the auction by Tony Kwan from Hong Kong:

The auction started at 0940 hours, 10 minutes late due to waiting for telephone and internet connection. There were about 30 collectors/dealers n the room. The Jiangxi red post stamp, lot #2001,was the first lot and the higlight of the auction. It open at 2.7 million withoiut much response from the floor for 30 seconds. Then a paddle was raised at the back of the auction room and the auctioneer then called 2.8 million. He then invited the rest of the floor bidders to bid for another minute without success. Hammer was down at 2.8 million paddle 128 whom I don't know. I guess he is a dealer from Mainland and bid the lot for an unknown collector.

(今早拍完。早上九半己坐了30人，等待此江西 RED POST 成交，因等候和上接，九四十分才拍，起270，等了30秒才由一位投拍者牌承至280 ，此後再出，便由一位不知名持128 牌的人仕拿到。下了今拍最高之拍品).

Hi William,

Thank you and Tony for sharing the good news. That is a good price. Congralutions to the previous owner. Stamps and postal hisory of early liberated China are always shinning and attractive to collectors. Hope there are more genuine rare covers coming out soon, those will be more exciting.
